Community centers balance individuals and groups. There are “we” spaces- offices and meeting rooms, gyms, but also spaces for personal growth and strength, like the fitness room; and then there are spaces that can be used together or alone like the bouldering wall, the coffee and tea shops and others. The community center wants all to succeed and thrive and is the design forms a context for flourishing. Stellar captures a concept of reaching potential, ascending new heights, innovating and reaching for the stars. The stars illustrate the individuality and diversity of community, paralleling vast numbers of stars, yet each is unique.
The lobby is designed for chance meetings, doing homework, and having a chance to grab a few minutes of work, as well as a welcoming space for visitors and employees. Wall coverings and the acoustic ceiling tiles dampen sound, the windows pour in natural light and views of the outdoors and the wall with the office entry also hosts a living plant wall.
Bertoia side chairs and barstools provide support and comfort for working in the space, Risom lounge chairs add to the adventure vibe, the Prism chairs mimic the mountain motif on the wall and floor, and the organic edges of the Risom coffee table contrast well with the Vignelli Paperclip Tables along the left side which again adds dynamic lines. Generation task seating supports the receptionists, while they also have Calibre lateral files and a Reff Credenza with coffee, tea, and water. Knoll finishes complete the look and longetivity. |
